International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day
October 15th
International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day is held on October 15th every year.
In 1988 President Ronald Reagan proclaimed October as National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month in the United States of America. It has since been adopted around the world and recognises the loss so many parents experience.
Robyn Bear, founder of www.october15th.com envisioned a day when grieving parents could come together, be surrounded by love and support from their families and friends, a day where the community could better understand their pain and learn to reach out to those grieving. It is a time to reflect on the loss and embrace the love. While our babies' lives were brief, they were also very meaningful. However in our society there seems to be little time to talk about them, they can appear forgotten, this day allows us to unite in love and light and honour our precious little ones.
We invite you to join us in the world wide candle lighting ceremony at 7pm on October 15th
If people across all time zones light a candle at 7pm their time and leave it burning for at least 1 hour we will create a continuous wave of light around the globe in loving memory of our babies.
